About Us
Derrick is a Medical Qigong Therapist, Kundalini Yoga and Meditation teacher, Artist and Musician. His first experiences with energy cultivation and meditation were as a teenager, when he found the practice to be beneficial for improving concentration and mood. After spending a decade focusing on pursuing creative projects in New York City he decided to dive deeper into meditation with new intentions to share the benefits of meditation combined with creative processes. This started with developing a daily practice of Transcendental Meditation which eventually inspired him to seek out his original teacher, Hari Kaur Khalsa. He trained with her and received his teacher training certificate at HariNYC in 2014.
It was also through HariNYC that he developed his interest and practice of Qigong. Specifically a Korean Daoist based form called Kobang Qigong. In addition to Kobang Qigong being integrated into his sadhana,he continues training regularly with Master Jonah Chin on Oahu. More recently he has been delving deeper into a more clinical applications of Qigong through The International Medical Qigong College. In Medical Qigong the exercises and meditations are intended to be used as prescriptions but can also be used for general wellbeing. Most of the exercises focus on the yin organs and other more systemic ways to guide the energy back to a homeostatic state. In the clinic a treatment requires only for the patient to participate and receive as the practitioner uses various protocols and techniques to provide a specific treatment for the patient. These treatments are an opportunity for new energy to be received as turbidity leaves and imbalances begin to rectify themselves. This therapy is a great compliment to western medicine, other cultivation practices, and other meditation practices. It is also a wonderful compliment to cancer treatments, nervous system and glandular disorders, pain management and for any physical emotional or spiritual imbalances. Kundalini Yoga, Kobang Qigong and Medical Qigong are some of the more rare but effective methods of practice and Derrick is very grateful to be able to share this with the community. |
